of L. Iulius [I 5] Caesar and of C. Iulius [I 11] Caesar Strabo. L. probably administered Sicily as praetor in 109 (MRR 1, 545), but attained the consulate
in 102 only after three unsuccessful attempts ....He is also mentioned as the author of occasional poetry (Plin. Ep. 5,3,5)
