1867, p. 120: "Eustathius, of Epiphaneia, in Syria, a rheotirican of the time of Anastasius.
He wrote an historical work in nine books...With the exception of a few fragments, the whole
work is lost...."
Brill's New Pauly: "Eustathius, of Epiphania, writer of a world history,
lived in the 5th cent. and wrote a twelve-volume digest of world history (χρονικὴ ἐπιτομή).
The three-volume first part extended to the fall of Troy, the second in nine books from Aeneas
to AD 503 (Evagrius, Hist. Eccl. 5,24). It is cited in the Suda (s.v. Eustathius)
but the
work had already been used in the 6th cent. by Malalas and Evagrios Scholastikos...." from
