TLG Canon of Greek Authors and Works, Third Edition,
Smith's Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology, Vol , 1867, p. 1:
Brill's New Pauly: "Maecius, Epigrammatist, Poet, by whom 11 epigrams are extant from the ‘Garland’ of Philippus - erotic, anathematic and epideictic - (the funerary epigram Anth. Pal. 7,635 originates perhaps from Antiphilus). For the Anth. Pal. 6,89, the praenomen Κοίντος (Koíntos) is placed side by side with the nomen Μαίκιος (Maíkios
Μάκκιος according the corrector and the lemmatists J), whereby the poem Anth. Pal. 6,230 (ascribed without further information to a certain Quintus) can be attributed to him. M. composes verses on an elevated level and is capable of witty and lively turns of phrase, with occasionally unusual ideas in an epigrammatic setting..." from lbiani, Maria Grazia (Bologna).
