Smith's Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology, Vol 2, 1867, p. 752: "Leonidas, of Alexandria, was born as he informs us ...on the banks of the Nile, whence he he went to Rome....His epigrams show that he flourished under Nero, and probably down to the reign of Vespasian. In the Greek Anthology, 43 epigrams are ascribed to him, but some of these belong to Leonidas of Tarentum....."
