Brill's New Pauly: "Ignatius, Magister Poet, metropolitan of Nicaea, 8th/9th cent. AD,. Deacon and skeuophylax in Constantinople (784-815), then metropolitan of Nicaea (died after 845). The works preserved under his name often cause problems of attribution because of conflicting homonyms... The lost works include iambic verses against Thomas the Rebel (cf. Suda ι 84 Adler). I. wrote vitae of the patriarchs Tarasius... and Nicephorus.... an anacreontic poem on the premature death of his student Paulus... a iambic dialogue on original sin ... ....He also wrote a few funerary epigrams (Anth. Pal. 15,29-31) that are classicistic in style and word selection though not devoid of faulty metrics ...." from Albiani, Maria Grazia (Bologna). "Ignatius." Brill’s New Pauly. Brill Online , 2013.
