TLG Canon of Greek Authors and Works, Third Edition, pg. 369-370
Smith's Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology, Vol 2, 1867, p. 157: "Flaccus, Statilius, the author of some epigrams in the Greek Anthology, of whom we know nothing, except what his name implies, that he was a Roman..."
Brill's New Pauly: "Statilius, F., writer of epigrams, he cognomen F. is often mentioned in combination with the nomen Statilius (Στατύλλιος Φλάκκος
Statýllios Phlákkos). He lived at the beginning of the 1st cent. AD, if the Latin version of Anth. Pal. 7,542 is actually the work of Germanicus. There is no proof of his being identical to the Epicurean Statilius who fell in battle at Philippi (42 BC) nor is there evidence of his identification with the F. whose death we are reminded of in Sen. Ep. 63.1. It is sheer hypothesis to assign his 14 epigrams (6,165 should perhaps be attributed to another F., cf. FGE 46-49) to the ‘Garland’ of Philippus....." Albiani, Maria Grazia (Bologna).
